Colourless Hair Colour Remover Max Effect | Review

Recently I went to the barbers to cut my hair into a short faded hairstyle ( this girl got sick of the long, damaged and split ends from over dying and bleaching!) I will tell you more about the barbers I went to in its own post soon because I think it deserves its own limelight as they did such an amazing job of my hair.  After getting my hair cut I decided I wanted to go more of my natural hair colour so that's i decided to use Colourless Hair Colour Remover

Colourless is a hair colour remover and it basically works by shrinking the dye molecule back to its original size. Different factors can affect the results though. This is made by the brand Makeup Revolution! Check out my previous review on Colour B4 here.

 What's inside the box?

Instructions with gloves
Activator A
Remover B
Buffer C

What is it used for?
It is used for removing unwanted hair dye either to leave like that afterwards or to change your hair afterwards. Max Effect is for harder to remove hair dye and for myself, I wanted to remove the build-up of hair dyes on my hair.

How to use
Now for goodness sake, the instructions are super important for this and I would rather you read them on the instructions because it's complicated and not following one step properly could affect the results of the product. I would do your homework before even thinking of using this.

What you definitely need and I mean it LOL
Timer

Towel
TIME
Cling film

My hair while process vs my before and after photo below

My thoughts
After following the instructions accurately and double-checking I applied Colourless to my hair. I left it for the required time and OMG if you don't know about this product... it really stinks and I can't describe what it smells like but my god it's awful. It says on the box it has a fresh smell, but seriously what do they mean by that? Fresh farts maybe? Open the window you need lots of ventilation.

I felt like I was in the shower for never hours because it was a long process of washing out the Colourless Hair Colour Remover the buffing and rinsing... very rhetorical so you can honestly see why I said you need lots of time. I was actually tired off getting this out that I was hoping that this product worked wonders on my hair but to my disappointment, it didn't work well at all.

When I applied it, it applied completely to my hair which was promising but I thought to myself, my hair is only short. If someone has longer than shoulder length hair they are going to need more then one packet. Once it was on my hair it was processed perfectly with the cling foil which did bring my hopes up a bit. But when it comes to all the washing and eventually drying my hair, my hair barely looked any different from before. DISAPPOINTED.

Below is a youtube video of before and 3 days after application.
I do think results person to person though. My hair has had its fair share of hair dyes over the past few months as I am never happy with it. I wasn't expecting miracles with this product but I was expecting a bit better than this since my hair is pretty short and not too much build of dye is on it. This would be brilliant for anyone with maybe one subtle change of unwanted hair dye but I would say if you have lots of hair dye or a complicated dye to remove I would honestly suggest going to a hairdresser if you can.

As with any hair product, I would suggest doing the research first as I have dyed my hair and later regretted. Also, its good to know all the details on this too because on their Colourless website.

My advice
DO NOT use a permanent hair dye or bleach after using this product! It will take you back to you pre-colour b4. I did this before in the past. I would wait 2 months and I know that sounds like a long time but I waited 6 weeks before and it still took me to my pre-colour b4 hair so yeah. Homework is everything with any hair colour remover or any hair product, to be honest.

  1. It's such a shame that this was so disaapointing, and I know what you mean about the smell of the product as most hair strippers in my case have smelt bloody awful! X
