Well, some decisions come later on in life, and for my training to become a make-up artist is one of them. I was going to train to do hair in my teens but life got in the way. I then tried again in my earlier 20s training in college to do hair and beauty but my pregnancy with my daughter was complicated, so I had to drop out and think about my baby, she was born a little earlier via cesarean.
When my kids were younger the dream of doing something to do with beauty got put on the back burner for a while. But it never stopped me from enjoying make-up; whether that be applying my own makeup or applying it to friends and family. I have also loved expanding my knowledge by watching make-up tutorials on YouTube or reading books. It's a big reason I have started to blog again.
Over the years I have been inspired by so many beauty gurus, drag queens/kings and makeup artists. Some of my favourites have to be Pat Mcgrath, Dita Von Teese and Bobbi Brown.
I am inspired mostly by retro makeup from the 50s with a twist and also the 80s with the flash of colour. I love bright makeup most of the time but neutral everyday looks are something I enjoy creating too. Above is some graphic liner I tried lately on my husband.
I have applied to a college to train to be a makeup artist. They got back to me quickly and I was invited to an interview and guess what lovelies? I got it! I'm officially starting in the late summer and I'm so nervous but extremely excited to get on with a journey I love.
Since august is a few months away, I will concentrate on Ramadan first then put my all into doing well and passing the course I am starting in august.
Except to see lots of this kind of content in the upcoming days, months and years 💕
Until next time
Melissa
