10 things I love about Autumn

I am a big fan of Autumn, so much so that I decided to do a post about it '"why not eh?".  I  will admit first I am a little bit sad summer is leaving us because I love the warm weather ( well the few days we do get here in Glasgow at least LOL) the longer days are a nice bonus too. Now that autumn is drawing ever closer and it's getting more like autumn every day (obviously Melissa LOL)  I thought it would be fun to post about the things I love about it.

One thing for sure it has started to feel like autumn much earlier than expected, even the middle of August was a bit wet and windy in parts don't, you think? Anyways let's get onto the good things that happen in autumn and the reasons why I love it.
The dress is from Collectif. Bought it myself a couple of months ago, just got round to wearing it.

10 things I love about Autumn
  1. HALLOWEEN 🎃- I love everything about Halloween! I relish spooky clothes & films during October. For me, I like having a scary movie night with my favourite comfy pyjamas on with a blanket enjoying some snacks, how perfect is that? Not only that I like to buy Halloween themed clothes and wear them all year round haha.
  2. Darker nights - When the days are shorter I like to put my pyjamas on even earlier, which I just love it because it is so much cosier!
  3. Comfortable nights in - Colder and darker nights are the perfect excuse for nice cosy nights in with the candles and being comfortable under a blanket 'pst i have a blanket on right now'.
  4. Food, Food and you know... Food! - All you hear all summer long is salads this, smoothies that and bloody diet! Autumn brings more of my favourite foods that are great for warming you up.
  5. Bonfire Night - Now I used to hate fireworks but now I love watching them! Usually, I love watching them from my flat but its quite fun to watch the events they have.
  6. Pumpkins - I really think pumpkin is so underrated because it's so darn tasty! I do love a good pumpkin curry. Not only that they are perfect for carving for Halloween.
  7. Cosy Clothes - I am a sucker for overside jumpers, hoodies and baggy pants! Comfy cosy clothes are my all-time fav!
  8. Embracing the crisp cool air - I love the cool air while walking, i find it super relaxing, especially when listening to music.
  9. New TV Shows - So many seasons have come out recently on Netflix that I love including AHS Apcolyse ( watched it, it was AMAZING!) and Preacher ( big let down kinda upset its ended now)
  10. Closer to Christmas - Now they are no denying i just love Christmas and as soon as the cold weather hits you know that Christmas is getting ever so closer! Bring on the presents, food, relaxing and spending time with family.

What do you love about Autumn/Fall?

Until next time

September Beauty Favourites

I hope everyone had a fabulous September! I love September because it has so many of my family birthdays including my son who just turned 12! I also love it because its start of the autumn and I look forward to Halloween, bonfire night and dare I say it...Christmas.

I must admit I didn't really wear a lot of makeup last month and the days I did, I wore subtle makeup more looks. So my favourites this month will reflect that this month, unlike Augusts Beauty Favourites which were more vibrant.

My Jeffree Star Cosmetics Collection

My Jeffree Star Cosmetics Collection
Ever since Jeffree Star launched his own cosmetics brand in 2016 'Jeffree Star Cosmetics'  has grown into a huge brand that many of us have heard about and just love. I remember when it first started out as just the liquid lipsticks then followed by his first eyeshadow palette ''Beauty Killer Eyeshadow Palette'. Now the brand has so many beauty products we are spoiled for choice

Now the first product in my collection was a Christmas present off my mum which was the 'Celebrity Skin Liquid Lipstick' which is one of my all-time favourite nudes (plus my mum doesn't like it when I wear bright lipsticks LOL) Since then my collection has slowly grown...

Ark Skincare Skin Protector SPF 30 Primer | Review

Ark Skincare Skin Protector SPF 30 Primer | Review
When it comes to SPF products many people ( including myself in the past) seem to think they are only needed during the Spring/Summer seasons but nope they are needed throughout the year. I can see why people might think they don't need it no more because during the Autumn/Winter months shops don't sell much SPF products and the weather is usually dull/cold/cloudy.

The thing is no matter the time of year its super important to wear SPF to protect skin against ageing and damaging UV rays. You will be surprised how many amazing products are out their now offering SPF protection in their products. They are things like foundations, lip balms and even serums!

Now, this is where this amazing Primer comes in! Ark Skincare has recently brought out this award-winning Skin Protector SPF 30 Primer  (RRP £36.00) which is an amazing multi-tasker in which its a primer, SPF and moisturiser. The brand is also made in Britain and the products are vegan and cruelty-free.

My Summer Skincare Favourites

It's now nearing the end of September and we are now enjoying the last few days of the Summer ( not that we had many days which we could actually call *Summer* LOL, its been raining and cloudy most of the time) I would say my understanding and knowledge of skincare products and a routine has definatly improved over 2019. During the summer I have tried a variety of different products and some I loved and some not so much but this post is about the ultimate favourites that I loved using during this summer.

I have definatly learnt a lot over the past few months what works well for my skin and also products that don't. My skin is combination skin but occasionally my skin can get dry in parts or doesn't like the particular product/s, its all just a balancing the right products for me.

Glossybox September 2019 | Review | Delicious Beauty
Glossybox has just launched their September box, woohoo! Last month they had the 'Birthday Edition' with amazing brands inside and a sparkly box to match the theme of the month( just in time for my birthday yay!) This month their theme sounds amazing and its called ' Delicious Beauty' inspired by beauty products that smell good enough to eat.

Sometimes Glossybox has boxes that are themed which is quite a nice change but this month is their classic pink box design which looks just as fabulous and you notice the branding simply by looking at it.

a day out to the Riverside Museum | Glasgow

Riverside Museum| Glasgow
We have lived in Glasgow for over 4 years and since then we have seen so many amazing places in Scotland. I have to say not only is Scotland rich in history but it also has lots of things to do and places to visit too. One of my favourites places to visit has to be the award-winning Riverside Museum (transport museum) which has over 3000 objects including cars, motorbikes and even a train. We went to a couple of weeks ago with my mum when she came to visit in the summer holidays.

The museum has a generous amount of parking places available and they cost under about £3.20 for 2-hour stay at the museum. The Riverside Museum is free of charge but it's suggested you make a donation of £5 per person in donation boxes dotted around the museum.

Check out what's inside the Riverside Museum by clicking read more

What's in my Handbag | River Island Edition

What's in my Handbag | River Island Edition

I have seen What's in my Handbag blog posts around the internet for years now! I have been blogging for over 4 years now and I have only just thought wahey lass why don't you do what's in your handbag post, even though my bag hasn't got anything particular fun inside.

I currently have 2 handbags; one is from New Look and the other one is my River Island handbag which is usually the everyday handbag I use most days. I took a picture of what's inside my bag at the moment but I put in the list below some other things that could be in their more often than not.
What's in my Handbag | River Island Edition
Inside my Handbag
  • Chewing Gum - I like to have some in my bag as when I have lunch out, I like my breath to be fresh afterwards.
  • Mobile Phone - I carry this everywhere of course LOL. I like to listen to music outside when I am walking and also for it to count the number of steps I do daily.
  • Loose Change - Whenever I get to change some manages to fall in my bag, I am so clumsy lol.
  • Badge/s- My brother collects badges and whenever I go out I keep a lookout for them. He has nearly 20,000 badges now in his collection.
  • Purse- Always a must for my handbag, my brother in law bought me this nightmare before Christmas purse last year and has been my go-to purse ever since
  • Endless Lipsticks- When I apply a lipstick in the morning I tend to throw it in my handbag so I can reapply later.
  • Sanitary Towels - My periods are unpredictable so I like to be ready, so I always carry at least 4 pads in a mini bag in my handbag.
  • Padlock- I don't really use this much now but this is for my gym locker while I'm at the gym.
  • Tissues- Colds, tears or whatever you never know when you need a hanky.
  • Keys- Hopefully, forget these LOL! I need these to get back into my flat.
  • Hand Sanitizer - These are so handy when out and about! Perfect for getting rid of unwanted bacteria.

Kit Star Brushes | Review

This post contains PR/gifted items, no paid content. All opinions are my own
When it comes to makeup, I sure know that a good makeup brush can make such a difference in creating and finishing a makeup look. On my mission of trying new brushes that work well for my makeup routine Kit Stars Brushes sent me some of their base & eyeshadow brushes to try out.

Kit Star brushes are made from either natural or vegan bristles. The handles are weighted and look stylish with their glossy black and golden design. They are hand made and honestly, they are literally a luxurious made brush with an affordable price to everyone! Prices start at just £6 and the highest product being a respectable £15.

I tried the following brushes

Eye brushes

  • N30 Small Tapered Blender - Perfect for definition & contour on the socket. I also like to add a pop of highlighter to the inner corner on my eyes.
  • N31 Tapered Blender - Similar to the previous brush, just slightly bigger, for adding definition.
  • N32 Shader - Perfect for applying the right amount of product to the eyelid! Packs pigment effortlessly!
  • N33 Micro Pencil - Perfect for smudging a smokey liner, adding small amounts of concealer for definition, this small brush is quite handy.
  • S41 Short Angle - Probably the best eyebrow brush I have ever used, perfect brows easily! It's firm yet flexible.

Face brushes
  • N1 Powder - This applies powder like a dream! It's so soft and applies perfectly.
  • N2 Shaping Veil - Perfect for using with highlighter and sculpting.
  • N3 Blush - The blush brush applies blush with ease on cheekbones, love how soft it applies the blush. Can be subtle or built up.
  • S4 Base Polisher - Perfect for use with liquid, powder foundation and also creams! A very versatile brush. Now my day to day foundation brush.
  • S40 Easy Lip - I like to add definition to my lips with this easy lip brush. Since it is soft and curved you get the shape you want easily.
Below is a video of me creating a glam look with the Kit Star brushes, click below to watch the video!
I have to say I am super impressed with these makeup brushes! They are firmly placed in my makeup brushes jars now.

Lush Deep Sleep Bath Bomb | Review

Lush Deep Sleep Bath Bomb | Review
I have had my eyes on this bath bomb from Lush for a while now as for me it has some witch/magic vibes to it which I just love! The first thing you will notice about Lush Deep Sleep is that it's not like the usual baht bombs at Lush, this one is wrapped with biodegradable muslin cloth and string.

This bath bomb is designed to help you get a better night sleep with its blend of lavender, chamomile and neroli oil. The blend infuses kinda like a tea bag in the water.

First things first, I dont sleep amazingly and some nights are worse than others when getting a good nights kip, so giving this a try was something I thought that would be worth it to get a comfy and relaxing sleep at night time.
Lush Deep Sleep Bath Bomb | Review
First things first, I dont sleep amazingly and some nights are worse than others when getting a good nights kip, so giving this a try was something I thought that would be worth it to get a comfy and relaxing sleep at night time.

Below is the list of ingredients. The ones in green are natural ingredients and the grey is safe synthetics. Lush is a cruelty-free brand and Deep sleep is also vegan-friendly too.

Ingredients
Sodium Bicarbonate Citric Acid, Lavender Flowers, German Chamomile Flowers, Lavender Oil Chamomile Oil, Lavender Absolute Neroli Oil, Water (Aqua) Dipropylene Glycol *Linalool Perfume Colour 17200, Colour 42090

As you can see by the ingredients that this bath bomb is very floral based with dried flowers inside it too. Once I opened up the muslin you could actually see the dried flowers inside which for me added more good vibes to deep sleep.

As I usually do with my bath bombs, I pop this under warm running water. I love how deep sleep infuses into the bathwater, it doesn't infuse with the water fast, it slowly does during the bath which I think is a rather nice feature. The bath went into a lovely lilac purple and had some of the dried flower petals floating around. It smelt like I was sitting in a lavender filed, gorgeous! Not only was the smell lovely but also rather relaxing too.

After my bath even though smelt like lavender I decided to use the Lush Sleepy Body Lotion and Feather & Down pillow spray also to see if they could help me have a better nights sleep. I did feel a tad bit more relaxed in bed, but as for sleeping better hmmm I am unsure about that because some nights I sleep like a brick and others im stirring till 3am. Using these 3 I slept at a decent time of just after midnight so I am happy with that.

July Beauty Favourites: Here comes the sun!

Following on from Junes Beauty favourites post which was based on products I liked using in the month which seemed to be like every season rolled into one. I really thought maybe July would have been sunnier and actually like summer but my goodness it has rained days more than they have been the sunshine. I think we had a few nice days without they being rain but apart from that, its been a damp summer for sure.

My July beauty favourites are totally based on the warmth, occasional sunny days and the torrential rains we keep getting. One day of summer is really not enough, right?

Are you excited to read about my choices? Check them out below.
July Beauty Favourites: Here comes the sun!
My July Favourites

Makeup Revolution - Re-loaded Iconic Division Palette
I just love this palette for a fair number of reasons! Firstly being it is cruelty-free and vegan-friendly, next to its only £4 and lastly, it's very similar to the ABH Subculture palette.

The palette has 15 pigments of mustard, deep greens and nudes inside which includes mattes and shimmers. I love using them all especially blending the shimmers with the mattes, perfection!

Kat Von D 'Metal Crush' Extreme Highlighter in GammaRay
I got this for my birthday last year and it has been used so many times since then! If you love extreme glittery highlighter then you will love this one for sure. This is gorgeous rose gold and my goodness a little bit of product goes a long way ( not like that's a bad thing, but something to keep in mind for sure)

I like to use this on my cheekbones, brows to define and also cupids bow. It lasts all day and when the sun shines or light hits my face you can see the shine/sparkle, divine!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio in Pink Passion
I found this blush palette a few months back in TK Maxx for £15 and ever since then it has been my trusty favourite when I go visit my mum & family for a few days. It has a nice trio of pinks that I think are wonderful and suits my makeup looks.

The compact itself is lovely too as it had a convenient mirror inside so you can take it with you in your handbag too which can be handy!
July Beauty Favourites: Here comes the sun!
Beauty Bakerie Setting Powder
I found this in the January Sales as I have heard so many positives on the Beauty Bakerie brand, that I was excited to give the brand a try, they sure never disappointed! I never used to used setting powders because I thought they were unnecessary but this changed my mind, this helps set my makeup and keep it in place all day long.

W7 Princess Potion Face Primer Drops
I really wanted to try the Fasali Unicorn Essence but for me, the price is a little steep at £50. I found this W7 Princess potion face primer for £5 in the range and ever since then I have used it whenever I want my foundation to look dewy, love it.
