An Introduction to Laves - a Modern Skincare Brand, Backed by Science

An Introduction to Laves a Modern Skincare Brand, Backed by Science
This post contains PR/gifted items, no paid content. All opinions are my own

Hello everyone!

Since I got nearer to the age of 30 I tended to pay a little more attention to my skincare regime more and learn what is best for my skin, now I know much more at 30 and usually know what's best for my skin. Rollback the clock to 10 years ago I wasn't very skincare savvy because I didn't do any skincare apart the occasional Nivea moisturiser, so you can see i wasn't in the know, looking back I wish I used SPF and did my homework and learn more then!

L'aves know that our skin changes daily and can be affected by things such as hormones, environmental conditions and even stress, so their products have the necessary ingredients our skin needs. All of their products are made in small batches so they are guaranteed to be fresh every time. They have skincare for all ages because we know our skin needs different things at different stages of our lives.

Their products are palm oil-free, preservative-free and free from such as harmful fragrance, no additive colour, no parabens, no phthalates or gluten. They are also eco friendly, vegan and cruelty-free.

My most used Lipsticks so far this year | 2020

My most used Lipsticks so far this year | 2020Hello everyone!

2020 has definitely been one of those years I am sure many of us will remember for a long time! It's not been anything like we are used to and getting used to new norms is defiantly not easy and takes so time to get adjusted too as well.

One thing for sure is that i don't wear lip products as much as I used to because of daily wearing face masks leaves the inside of my masks looking like a makeup removing wipe leaving my lipstick all over my mouth area which can be a right laugh if you're going to a restaurant for example LOL.

Anyways here are the lipsticks I used so much they ended up being in my handbag!

I went back to Gym: After Lockdown

Hello everyone ❤

It seems like forever ago when the gyms shut at the start of Lockdown back in March. During the lockdown, I have to say my fitness levels did suffer as I didn't do as much exercise with restrictions and also me being super nervous of the virus put a dampener on things. I have been a member of the gym for a few years now so I was wondering how it would be when it opened up again.

England opened their gyms in July but here in Scotland, it was nearer the end of August for them to open again with restrictions of course. Now I have to admit I was super nervous going back to the gym after all the time off and of course, the worry of COVID 19 was niggling in the back of my mind.

Dying my Hair with Bleach London Super Cool Colour Lavender Vida Loca | Review

Hello everyone! ❤

If you follow me on Instagram/Twitter, you may have noticed I have changed my hair! I thought I'd tell you all my experience of how I got my hair the way it is now.

I have lost count of the number of times I have changed my hair. It has been dyed it a variety of different colours over the years from blonde, pink to bright red. It has been so many times that even my gran says what colour hair does she have now LOL. A couple of weeks ago I decided to give the blonde a whirl again and while choosing a dye I seen this gorgeous shade 'Lavender Vida Loca' by Bleach London and I just knew I just had to try it!

Bleach London has become way more popular over the years and it's easy to spot their products in many high street shops and supermarkets. I got mine in Superdrug while shopping for other toiletries and skincare. They have a good variety of dyes, haircare and bleach.

I really think I chose this one because I love Ricky Martins song Living 'la Vida Loca, such a classic!

This post contains PR/gifted items, no paid content. All opinions are my own

We are on the very end of summer now but I don't know about you guys but I am going to make the most of it while I can, especially with 2020 being such a crazy year. Pixi has sent me a package of their summer best selling makeup so I thought I'd try them for a while and tell you all about them.

Inside the personalised tote bag, they sent me was a few goodies that fit perfectly in the tote bag! Let's see my thoughts on each so far...

XX Revolution - Haul & First Impressions

XX Revolution - First Impressions
Makeup Revolution has been a drugstore beauty brand staple of mine and I am sure others for a few years now. They have a few brands under their brand already include Revolution Pro, Skincare and Makeup Obsession. XX Revolution is a new sub-brand that a good selection of makeup and skincare to choose from, I chose a random selection of things I needed.

Now I first noticed XX Revolution advertised on the Makeup Revolution Instagram page and the first thing I noticed was the packaging and I knew I had to try it out for myself. XX Revolution is based on the new decade and the evolution of skincare and makeup.

July Empties: Beauty Products I've Used

July Empties: Beauty Products I've Used
Hello, everyone!
I can't remember the last time I did an empties post but I decided to do them again as I was cleaning my room and I found so many products that needed recycled. So instead of doing that straight away I got my camera out and took a picture of them all and decided to share with you all my opinions on each of these products.

Anyways I am glad I found these because I have been meaning to do these kinda posts for months so its definalty a kick start for me to do these again. Most of these I have bought myself except for the Ark Skincare.

So let's see whats empty and my thoughts on them

Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Golden Girl Oil
£9.99 for 50ml
My hair may not be blonde anymore but my hair has been bleached so I like using serums to help keep my hair more manageable. This serum can be used on damp hair to make more manageable and also to dry hair to make hair more smooth.

I really like this. serum as its lightweight on the hair and leaves no residue on hands after. Even though this is meant for bleached blondes I think it worked so well on my hair to keep it more manageable. I would defiantly get this again one day, it is great.

Bull Dog Skincare Sensitive Moisturiser
£6.00 for 100ml
I personally didn't use this but my partner did. He enjoyed using it and always remembered to use it every morning and evening without fail. It has no smell which is a bonus and works well under an SPF cream.

The formula is great as it hydrates the skin without any greasy sticky residue and just leaves the skin feeling soft. It is a good price as he likes it and works well for him. He would repurchase this.

Ark Skincare Age Protect Skin Vitality Moisturizer *(gifted)
£35 for 55ml
This is the first time I have used a pump-action moisturiser and I did like it because you get the right amount each time and it's easy to clean after. It's rich in antioxidants and leaves skin feeling clean, radiant and vibrant. I liked using this in the morning after cleansing, toning followed by an eye cream. I mix some serum with this sometimes if I feel my skin needs more TLC.

As much as I loved this moisturiser I won't repurchase as id get something for 30 plus skin from now on.

Moroccan Oil Treatment Orignal
£13.45p for 25 (larger sizes available)
This oil is infused with antioxidant-rich argan oil which has to strengthen properties and vitamins for shine enhancing. This oil was a hit for us because it detangles hair effortlessly and makes much more manageable but at the same time leaving hair soft.

I really love this oil, it works wonders on my hair especially with the damage from the bleach. Even though it's on the expensive side I do think it's worth it for me. I would repurchase.

OGX Beauty Kukui Oil Anti-Frizz Hydrating Oil
£8.99 for 118ml
I used this for my partners and my kid's hair to calm the frizz and make it easier for me to style. It has a nice refreshing smell but I did find it a touch on the sticky side on hands but it easily washes off. I don't know if it helped with how the hair looks but it did make brushing a bit easier.

Even though this product was ok I do have more favourites out there that work better in my opinion.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I will hopefully be adding more of these whenever I have used more products up. More in-depth products reviews here and they're too :)

What products have you used up in July?

Beautaniq Beauty Guardian Angel Revitalising Eye Gels

Beautaniq Beauty is a skincare brand I have never heard of before but I recently got a few months back in a Glossybox. I have tried my fair share of eye gels over the years and even though they are a brilliant thing for self-care... skincare wise they don't make such a difference as claims say well in my opinion that is.

Beautaniq Beauty is a cruelty-free skincare brand which likes to keep their ingredients as simple as possible.  All of their products are vegan friendly and contain no parabens, PEGS, phthalates or sulphates. They have a moderate selection of products from eye gels, sheet masks and a small selection of makeup

My first thoughts when I saw the Guardian Angel revitalising eye gels is that they look unique with their angel wing design. With the name, it kinda reminds me of the scene in Grease when they sing beauty school dropout LOL!

Get Midsummer Ready with Pixi

This is the time of year when they are many concerts, weddings and outdoor festivals going on. I was meant to be going to a Diana Ross concert this month but for obvious reasons, all concerts and festivals right now have been postponed or cancelled. But since we have none of them just now doesn't mean we can't get midsummer ready right? Pixi have you sorted so you can still enjoy festival style makeup.

Pixi was very generous to gift this gorgeous belted bag with some festival-inspired goodies inside. Inside is a mixture of products which I will tell you more about below!

June Rewind | 2020

This is the first post like this I have ever done on my blog but I have decided to have a little bit of a change to add a little more dimension to my blog. These monthly rewind posts will have a mixture of subjects including fashion, what I've been watching and blog posts during the month.

Lockdown is on day 10290.... well it might as well be because I have lost count on how many days now. June was a super fast month for us all which is funny because jump back to April it seemed to last forever. Lockdown is taking some adjusting too but we are doing our best for sure.

  • My brother in law got a new kitten called Nero! He is a ginger tom and he's lush!
  • I got some Scooby doo converse shoes! I am a huge fan of scooby doo so I'm super glad to have these.
  • I got some new house plants and also some of my homegrown strawberries ripened! Super happy with them. My tomato and cucumber plants are growing so well.
  • My mum is awaiting test results and damn I am worried. Time is taking ages
  • I haven't read as much as I would like and i have lost the book I have nearly finished.
  • We went to the park a few times during the month to make the most of the weather, obviously, socially distanced though.

Goals for July
  • Read more! I fell short in June but I did manage to read more than the previous month which is a plus.
  • Finishing decorating my flat. I have done a lot of decorating so far. So far I have nearly finished my kitchen, living room, kids rooms and my own. I need some finishing touches and that will be it.

Just Arrived: Pixi Retinol & Jasmine Collection

This post contains PR/gifted items, no paid content. All opinions are my own

Yay, another collection has come out from Pixi! This time it is the Retinol & Jasmine Collection! I know they may have had some products in their range before but now they have added a few more products to add to their range!

Now I know the hype is real about retinol in the beauty world but I am going to be completely honest with you all, this is the first time I am trying retinol-based products.  All I know about retinol is that it's an amazing antiaging product that should be used in a skincare routine as it has many benefits including reduces fine lines by increasing collagen production

Since it was the first time I was trying retinol I was a bit on the fence as its something new in my skincare routine plus its an active ingredient. But saying that I was more curious to see if it works for me. I am 30 in a couple of months so I am changing up my skincare routine a little bit.
The Retinol range from Pixi looks like a great start point ( like myself) for anyone who hasn't tried retinol yet or has used stronger retinol and wasn't keen on it. This range is gentle and effective with an entire range to help you get through the day.

Retinol Jasmine Cleanser (RRP £18) - This cream cleanser is infused with jasmine, ceramides, antioxidants and also a touch of retinol. It helps remove impurities, clean the skin and leave the skin feeling smoother. Can be used AM or PM depending on your preference. For me personally, I have been using it in the evenings.

Retinol Tonic (RRP from £10) - This was one of the first products in the range released last year I think. I love over Pixi tonics so this one fits into my routine nicely.  This has a unique time-release of retinol which helps rejuvenate the skin throughout the day. The jasmine flower helps to heal and soothe. Can be used AM and or PM. I personally like using it PM ( I use something different in the morning).

Retinol Jasmine Lotion (RRP £24) - This lightweight yet milky lotion is deeply moisturizing. It contains retinol (obviously lol), jasmine oil to soothe and also peptides to help renew and firm. Can be used daily but don't forget to use SPF after applying this as this doesn't have any.

Retinol Eye Cream (RRP £22) - This cream is formulated to improve elasticity, smooth and protect the delicate eye area. This has retinol, peptides to firm and also a kick caffeine which depuffs and energises

In the collection, they are 2 oils. One is a newbie and the other you may be familiar with. Since I haven't tried any retinol-based products they are both new to me

Jasmine Oil Blend ( RRP £26) - This has been available for a while now but this was the first time I got the chance to finally use it. This beautiful oil blend helps skin recover from the loss of moisture and dullness. It contains jasmine flower which heals and balances, Evening Primrose which boosts circulation and hydrates and finally grape seed oil which helps promote collagen restoration. Can be used AM and or PM.

Overnight Retinol Oil (RRP £26) - This is the newbie to the range. This exquisite oil helps to improve skins plumpness, reduce fine lines and pores. It contains retinol, peptides to firm and ceramides which provide time-released moisture. As you can see by the name its a PM product.

So that is the whole collection. Check out the entire Pixi Retinol collection here where you will find out more info on each of the products. I will give a full review on each product one I have used them all so keep a lookout for future blog posts on them.

Alya Skin Pink Clay Mask Review

When it comes to face masks I must say I am very partial to using them a couple of times a week ( even more so now we are on a lockdown) My skin is normal to combination and sometimes can be a little on the oily side so i need something to help give my skin a little bit of a detox every now and again.

I have tried my fair share of face masks over the years but when it comes to a pink clay face masks I think I have only tried one prior to this one. This pink clay mask was kindly sent for me to review from Alya Skin

Lush Nana Shower Gel | Review

lush nana shower gel

Hello, everyone!
It seems quite a while since my last Lush blog post. I think the reason for that was I took a break shopping there because I felt I was being rhetorical as they weren't many new releases at that time and I just didn't feel up to it either, nothing to do with the shop but rather me not wanting to go out to my nearest shopping centre.  I decide to go back for some goodies as they were new releases and you guessed it, 2 weeks after we had the lockdown.

So I have tried a fair few Lush shower gels and each one of them i have loved. I decided to give Lush Nana shower gel a try as I have seen so many positives on it online and to be honest yellow is one of my favourite colours so I thought why not eh?

A Skincare Self-Care Package from Antipodes

Hello everyone!
At the start of lockdown, I was very fortunate to get a lovely email from Antipodes asking me if I would like a self-care package. I jumped at the chance as I love skincare products and being honest I felt a bit low at the start of lockdown as they have been so many changes during this uncertain time. They sent me some of their new products as well as some older favourites too.

When the box came it was so tiny I found they may be only a small gift inside but nope, they was two skincare products and two lipsticks. Inside was the new Antipodes Baptise h20 hydrating gel, also new was the Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye cream. Lastly, they were two healthy lipsticks in the shades in Queenstown Hot chocolate and Forest Berry red.

5 Things On My To-Do List After Lockdown

Hello everyone!

I know the lockdown sounds like its lasted forever and we don't know truly how long it's going to last after either. We know how important the lockdown is because of effects of COVID 19. I am not in a rush to do these things but I know they will come at the right time and I can tell you something.. I am excited about some more normality as lockdown can be hard for sure.

They are so many things I miss that sometimes it can be upsetting thinking about them so I have decided to make a positive out of negative and write a post on what things I am looking forward to when the lockdown is finally over and they are no more coronavirus.

Love Locks by Lydia - Hair Growth Liquid: Does It actually Work? | Review

Hello Everyone!

When it comes to hair vitamins I am always a bit dubious on their claims in which they will help grow your hair faster and overall improve your hair health. Not only that but quite a lot of the times they can be expensive and most of them are pills or gummies which arent my cup of tea.

I have tried a few different products to try help my hair quality over the years but I can't rate any of them. I was kindly sent a bottle of 'Love Locks Lydia's Liquid Hair Vitamins' to try! At first, I wasn't entirely consistent as I have a memory of a goldfish sometimes. But I got the gist and had it with breakfast.

Lockdown Dairy: I shaved off my hair...

Hello everyone!

Now you may be all wondering why on earth I have decided to go for a buzzcut! A few things came into a play to why I decided to do this, now more than ever.  My hair has been pretty darn damaged from the number of times I have dyed my hair and also bleaching it. I have lost count the number of times I have done the process throughout the years.

Now I can't complain I have enjoyed having so many different hairstyles and looks but my hair had enough recently as I overdid it with the hair bleach. I bleached my hair twice over the span of 2 days and my goodness it was so damaged and brittle that lots of it broke even by the slightest touch. I thought putting a dye over it would help with the damage but nope it didn't. It just looked patchy and super dry. They were only one thing for me to do...

Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Collection

Hello everyone!

Just over a month ago, I was at home after dropping my kids to school when I got a knock on the door and it was the fabulous 'Milky Hydrating Collection from Pixi'! It was totally random and a lovely surprise. Skincare is defiantly important to me as I am knocking on 30s door and also have combination skin makes me want to get skincare right for me. Getting this collection was a much-needed boost for me as I love trying new skincare products.

My skincare routine has improved over the years and I would like to think I have a decent amount of knowledge on what works well for me so far. Finding products that work for me is a task and a half but most of the time Pixi sure delivers.

This collection is cruelty-free and also vegan friendly too!

Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Collection
So what's in the collection?
They are 6 products in the collection which represent the steps to achieve softer and hydrated skin.

Step 1 - Remove
This does exactly what it says on the bottle! It removes makeup easily! It has a pump action top which you apply to a face towel or face pads. You simply use circular motions to remove makeup including the most stubborn makeup such as waterproof mascara. It also makes skin feel more hydrated after use.

Step 2 - Cleanse
Next up you use a coin size amount of this daily use cleanser applying with circular motions and remove with warm water. This cleanser is enriched with moisturizing coconut extract, willow bark extract and skin-perfecting probiotics.

Step 3 - Peel
This peel exfoliates the skin with natural ingredients which help minimize pores and condition the skin. The ingredients include coconut which nourishes, willow bark to refine pores and cellulose to exfoliate. Simply use this daily by applying to the skin, leaving it on for 2-3 minutes then washing off with warm water.
I love the feel of this on my skin and washing it off my face feels smoother. I love this step so much!

Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Collection
Step 4 - Tone
I am a huge fan of PIXI tonics and its a flip between the vitamin c and glow tonics which are so far my favourites. This milky tonic is soothing and balances the skin. Simply soak into a cotton pad or reusable towel and gently wipe over your face and down the neck. I like to use it in the mornings and also just before I go to bed at night.

Step 5 - Treat
Not only does this soothe the skin but it also deeply hydrates and brightens the skin. The ingredients include rose flower extract, jojoba oil and aloe vera. I love the smell of this! You only need 2-3 drops cover your face and neck. It has a drop applicator included so its easy to get the right amount needed.

Step 6 - Moisturise
The final step is using this lotion! You can use this on your face and also on your body too. This adds instant hydration as well as long-term skin moisture. Ingredients inside include shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa seed extract for hydration and others including sweet almond extract and black oat extract. As with everything else in the collection, this smells gorgeous while at the same time softens my skin.

Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Collection
I am super happy with this collection and I have definitely found some new favourites! I think they came at the perfect time for me as I needed something to add to my self-care routine especially with what's going on in the world right now.  I love how refreshing the whole collection feels on my skin and I love using them in my skincare routine.

What do you think of the Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Collection? Which would you like to try

Tutti Rouge Review, Part one: Eva Body Garnet

Hello everyone!

When it comes to lingerie I do like lacey vibrant things, which is brilliant because I was kindly some things from Tutti Rouge including this Eva Body in Garnet. I have seen so many positives about the brand on social media. The brand was founded in 2012 and they make lingerie for people with bigger boobs as they knew people struggled to find a supportive and comfortable bras/lingerie in their sizes.

Their website has so many choices that it took me a while to choose which I wanted because all of their pieces are just gorgeous!
How does it look & feel? ( is it comfortable?)
It surpassed my expectations in so many ways! It has so many details on it and the quality is outstanding. When I got it out the package I noticed all the lovely details such as on the back it has little love heart clasps where you adjust how tight you want the bra panels to be.

One thing I love about the Eva body is that it has tragically placed panels in which some parts rougette signature lace and others which a sheer spot net. The elastic under the bust gives support and uplift with no visible VPL.

I was a bit worried because the size looks a little on the small size for me but I was totally wrong as it fits like the glove.  Usually, with bodies, they fit nicely in one place and awfully in other but this was perfect and hugs my curves.

I love the support it gives to my boobs and belly and I can honestly say I feel super confident wearing this which is a big win for me as I am trying so hard to be more body confident.

I feel so comfy and sexy wearing this that I would even wear as it as outwear with a vest underneath of course.  One thing I love about this is that its so comfy and doesn't cut into my skin after long wear, it basically feels like a second skin.

Sizing?
They have a size range of XS to XXXL (size 6-20) on their website but for this particular body it went up to my size which is the top end of a size 16. For me, the fit is comfy and fit my bra size which is a size 34DD/E depending on the bra.

Tutti Rouge Review, Part one: Eva Body Garnet
Tutti Rouge Review, Eva Body Garnet
My thoughts
I really love this body! It fits me well and I feel really confident wearing it because of a few factors. One being is that it fits my curves nicely, the lace has gorgeous detail and also it fits my chest perfectly which is good because I have a quite a gap.

The back looks just as nice as the front which is a nice extra. I am a 36DD and the size XL fit my shape nicely. I love the garnet colour; they are also another version of this in black, which I am tempted to get as well.

I would say it gives a good amount of support too which is always a good thing with larger breasts in a body. Since it gives a nice amount stretch it fits my belly well too.

How much is the Eva Body from Tutti Rouge?
It costs £24 and comes in two different colours. This one and also black.

Where can I find out more?

What do you you think of the Tutti Rouge Eva body in garnet?

They have a light-reflecting finish and a wand applicator since its soft liquid product. It's a product so you can use it on your cheekbones, nose or cupids bow. You can layer it for a more intense glow.

All orders are dispatched from the UK. Each highlighter stick costs £25 each. They are paraben-free and also vegan friendly

The highlighters are multitasking so you can use them as a bronzer, blusher or a highlighter.

Balibody Highlighter Sticks Review
Below I have taken swatches of each of the highlighters, as you can see with just one swipe of the wand how glowy they are! I can see that they can be very versatile.

I really like the formula of the highlighter which is a nice surprise for me as I usually don't get along with liquid highlighters but these are just easy to use and blend. They also are fast drying which is a plus as waiting for liquid highlighters to dry can be annoying.

I use this by putting a small amount on the areas I need it such as small dots and blend them out with a concealer brush. If I want a more intense glow I would repeat the process for a more blinding glow. I myself prefer a blinding highlight in which you can notice so I like to repeat the process.

My favourite out of the bunch in 'Moonlit' as I like champagne/moon inspired highlighters as they usually go so well with the makeup looks I create. The others I like to use as a bronzer and a blusher.

Balibody Highlighter Sticks Review
I really like these highlighter sticks! They impressed me so much as I don't usually get on with liquid highlighters. I like how fast they dry and how vibrant they look without any fuss or mess. I love them and I will definitely be looking forward to Bali Body adding more cosmetics to their collection.
